The Dean’s Office has two visitor spots in Dauer Lot which we reserve on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure a smooth parking experience for our guests, we accept requests that meet the guidelines below. Because we are in a fundraising campaign, we must give highest priority to donors, potential donors, high-level UNC leaders and prominent guest speakers.

2 visitor spots
Pass required 24/7
Unauthorized parkers will be ticketed/towed

Visitor spots are intended to be used by:

  • Guests with mobility limitations
  • VIPs including certain donors, distinguished professors, deans, high-level UNC leaders (Chancellor, Vice Chancellors), government officials
  • Prominent guest speakers, such as foundation, corporate and community leaders

Making a reservation DOES NOT confirm parking will be available.

  • Unauthorized cars often park in our spots. While we work with the Dept. of Public Safety to ticket these vehicles, we cannot guarantee the spot will be available. We encourage requestors to check the visitor spot at least 30 minutes in advance of their guest’s arrival. Contact the Dean’s Office (919-966-3215) if there are any issues.
  • Unexpected priority needs. From time to time, we may have to bump visitors to accommodate other guests.

Key things to keep in mind.

  • Reserve early. If you know you will have a visitor who requires parking, please contact any of the administrative assistants in the Dean’s Office ASAP. While Benita is the main contact for parking, any Dean’s Office staff member can assist with parking requests.
  • Construction in McGavran-Greenberg Hall impacts the Dauer lot. Our office will contact requestors if we learn of a conflict. We encourage you to check the spot 30mins prior to your guest’s arrival to make sure the spot is available. We strongly suggest your guest arrive early enough to find an alternative spot should the Dauer lot in case the spots are unavailable.
  • Short visits. Visitors here for longer than three hours should be directed to the Dogwood Deck. Parking fees can be waived via coupons coordinated through your department or unit. Only those with limited mobility or very high VIPs will be confirmed for longer reservations. (You can purchase parking validation coupons online.)
  • Service permits. Visitors from other parts of the University should be encouraged to park in service spots. Most departments/units have service permits available. Visitor spots are NOT meant for University employees.
  • Vendors servicing a unit should contact UNC Transportation and Parking for a temporary vendor tag prior to their visit. (This includes carpet installers, air delivery, etc.) For questions, contact Brent Wishart at 919-843-8101. Service spots are NOT meant for food deliveries; these vendors can pull up to the Michael Hooker Research Center doors for quick drop off.
  • Special event parking. Please contact our office directly for information on special event parking. (i.e., Blood drives, fairs and special events requiring the Rosenau lot)
